The Mooroopna Steering Committee and Mooroopna Market delivered the 2026 Mooroopna Families and Neighbours Day with funding from Greater Shepparton City Council on Sunday, July 26.
Despite the cold and foggy conditions, families turned out for a free barbecue supplied by the Kiwanis and Lions clubs of Mooroopna, alongside support and activities offered by Headspace Shepparton.
The event ran alongside the existing monthly Mooroopna Market, allowing families and community members to access hot food and support services in one location.
Parents with children were also able to connect with Headspace on-site throughout the day.
Mooroopna Steering Committee chair Rowan Farren-Parnell said the event was designed with families in mind.
“We are young people and parents ourselves, so we understand how challenging cost-of-living and mental health pressures can be. Bringing free and low-cost activities together, as well as having support available on-site, means families can enjoy a nice day out without stress,” Mr Farren-Parnell said.
“We were excited to see so many parents out with their kids at the market, with most accessing our offerings as part of Families and Neighbours Day.”
