The Mooroopna branch donated six $500 vouchers on Thursday to The Haven, Goulburn Valley Health Mary Coram Rehab Centre, Mooroopna St Vincent De Paul Conference, Mooroopna Education and Activity Centre, Mooroopna Museum Historical Society and the Mooroopna Men's Shed.
Mooroopna CWA secretary Cecily Dumaresq said the branch raised the money through a Bunnings barbecue and a high tea held in the town in September.
“One of our aims is we look after the women and the children in the area as much as we can,” she said.
“We like to donate the money raised to local people - we like to keep our donations going locally.”
The Mooroopna CWA branch has 15 members with the group meeting each month to discuss issues and plan future events.
As part of the CWA charter, the group regularly donates back to the community each year, with the most recent donation going towards organisations connected in some way to the members.
Ms Dumaresq said the $500 donation to the Men's Shed would help fund two buddy seats for local primary schools while The Haven held a special place for many members who had grandchildren.
“By donating to the Men's Shed we feel it's an enticement to them but keeps more senior men occupied in their spare time,” she said.
“We take a great interest in The Haven in Shepparton, most members have got grandchildren - we are keen to keep these children interested in education to give them the best education that we can.”
The Mooroopna CWA branch meets at the Royal Mail Hotel at 7.30pm on the last Thursday of the month. To join or for more information, phone Barbara Carter 5825 1728.
