Mooroopna Rotary Club has raised more than $64,000 to go towards charitable causes across the Goulburn Valley and overseas from its second car raffle of 2022.

Combined with April’s raffle, Mooroopna Rotary raised more than $123,000 in 12 months.
The raffle is traditionally held in the lead-up to the Mooroopna New Year’s Eve fireworks, but the end-of-2021 edition of the fireworks was cancelled due to coronavirus outbreaks, delaying the raffle.
A brand-new Hyundai was handed over to winner Andriana Oliver, who bought the ticket in Nathalia, while three prizes worth $1000 were split between winners living in Eltham, Ashburton and one more locally.

Mooroopna Rotary sells the tickets across the state via other Rotary clubs, which buy the tickets from the Mooroopna group.
It’s the second time in a row the raffle has been won locally.
Mooroopna Rotary raffle co-ordinator Richard Speedy said he was excited to have raised so much money, which would be spent mainly on helping local causes such as FoodShare, GV Hospice and more, as well as a project providing clean water and sanitation in Cambodia.
“It’s always good for a prize to go to a local, but it’s also nice some of the subsidiaries have also won some of the prizes as well,” he said.
“It’s a pretty impressive effort to raise $123,000 in 12 months ... most of the money will be spent locally.”
He said the raffle would return next year and the club was always open to new members, with those interested in joining encouraged to reach out through the club’s Facebook page.
