Brooke is the younger daughter of Natasha Buddle of Jerilderie, and Ethan is the elder son of Jerilderie’s Justin and Helene Mortlock.
Around 60 guests, including parents, grandparents, siblings, uncles, aunts, and cousins, travelled from far and wide to attend.
Brooke and Ethan each had five attendants, and the bride was given away by her elder brother, Wade.
After the official ceremony at 4pm, the guests mingled in the shade of lovely old trees where the wedding feast was held, the official part of the night was completed, and the younger and fitter guests took to the dance floor.
Storm clouds and a cool change were gathering after a very hot, humid day, and Ethan was just completing his final speech when a strong wind came up, forcing a hasty retreat to shelter.
The following storm, with rain and a cooler temperature, were welcomed, and enthusiastic dancing went on well into the night.

After 36 years of telling the stories of local individuals, their happy and sad moments, and some amusing ones, I am hanging up my ‘correspondent’s hat’ in coming weeks.
Thanks to all the readers of the SRN who have supplied their personal and organisational news, given me feedback, and encouraged me to keep going.
I have enjoyed the opportunity to tell your stories, using the English language, which I was taught to love in my long-ago school days.
Editor’s note: Our thanks to Judy Ryan for her many years contributing Jerilderie news to your local newspaper. Anyone interested in taking over the column can call general manager Nigel Lutton on 0450 907 774, or email nigel.lutton@denipt.com.au.
