Festival chair Cr Justin King said this year’s festival theme celebrated the very best our community had to offer.
“The theme, Live Local, Love Local, is a celebration of who we are, where we live and the incredible people who make Benalla and district such a welcoming and inspiring place,” Cr King said.
“It’s about supporting local businesses, appreciating our natural surroundings and celebrating the passion and talent of our residents.
“This spirit is woven through every event, from the creativity of local artists to the generosity of community volunteers — creating a festival that’s truly by and for the people of Benalla and surrounds.”
Cr King said the annual festival provided a platform for local makers, growers and entrepreneurs to shine.
“Events like the A Day in the Gardens Market, the Tatong Market and More, and Devenish Market offer opportunities to discover handcrafted goods and fresh produce,” Cr King said.
From Moorngag to Tatong, Devenish to Swanpool, the Benalla Festival brings the local region together in a celebration of creativity, connection and community pride.
Local talent shines through in exhibitions held by the Broken River Painters and Potters, while the Garage Sale Trail encourages sustainable living and neighbourly connections.
Families can enjoy free entertainment at Benalla by the Lake and the Spooktacular Festival launch, while young people have their own spaces to connect through events like the Op Shop Formal and Barbecue and Boardgames events.
Open Gardens offer a glimpse into some of Benalla’s most beautiful private spaces, with proceeds supporting local charities.
Cr King encouraged the community to support this year’s festival.
“Whether you’re exploring a country market, admiring local art, or attending a township event, the festival is a chance to live local, love local — and celebrate everything that makes Benalla Rural City feel like home,” Cr King said.
The Benalla Festival is held from October 31 to November 9.
