More than 250 people attended the Tocumwal’s Little Explorers community open day on Saturday to see how the Tocumwal Pre-School has been transformed.
An official opening and ribbon cutting ceremony was also held last Wednesday for the 68-children licensed premises.
Tocumwal’s Little Explorers committee member Stephanie Chappell said there had been great interest from the community for the facility to begin operating at full capacity.
"There is so much demand in Tocumwal for daycare,“ she said.
"Numerous people have already approached us seeking a placement.“
The official long daycare operation will begin after current recruitment has been completed, with an additional 11 to 17 staff needed for the centre to run at maximum enrolment number.
When staffing has been finalised, plans are to operate the long daycare centre from 7.30am until 5.30pm for children from six weeks to school age.
Tocumwal’s Little Explorers will also maintain the current pre-school program for three year-olds that operates from 9am until 3pm Monday to Friday.
Pre-school facilities will continue to be available until staffing has been finalised.
