Library funding available

Libraries across the Goulburn Valley can apply for a share of $4.5 million with the Victorian Government announcing a new round of funding.

As part of the 2019-20 Living Libraries Funding Program, local councils and regional library corporations can receive funding to build, redevelop or refurbish libraries.

Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp said he encouraged all regional libraries in his district to apply.

"Ahead of International Literacy Day on September 8, we are investing in the development of public libraries so that ... rural and regional communities continue to have access to the range of facilities and services that libraries offer.

"Good literacy skills opens many doors for individuals throughout their lives, therefore we want to give everyone the opportunity to access quality resources and facilities to learn and thrive," Mr Gepp said.

Tatura Library was successful last year in receiving $600000 to refurbish its facilities.
