Fourteen students took part in the day with the school community also putting on a ‘Crazy Hair Day’ in support of the cause with a gold coin donation.
The team was made up of students from Years 5, 6, 8 and 9 and when asked ‘why they decided to shave their head’, most of the responses were similar in their desire to assist people suffering with cancer diagnoses.
“I wanted to support people with blood cancers”, “I thought it would be fun”, “I wanted to be bold”, “I wanted to raise money and stop the illness”, “a free haircut”, “it’s a great cause” and “to help people who are suffering with an illness”, were just some of the responses received.
The students that participated in the head shave or hair colour and the amounts they raised were:
Year 9
•Finley Thompson - TBC
Year 8
•Jayden Jenkins - $305
•Brodie Brown - $123
•Ely Elliot - $600
Year 6
•Josh Innella - $203
•Zan Kannogiesser - TBC

Yarrawonga College 5-8 Engagement and Wellbeing Officer and organiser of the World’s Greatest Shave at the college Rachael Guppy is proud of the students’ and school communities efforts over the past several years.
“We have different people each year that put their hand up to be a part of this great cause which we love to see and often many of them have differing reasons to take part,” Ms Guppy said.
“We are proud to be involved in the shave each year and raise money for people who are needing assistance while they go through cancer treatment.”
The World’s Greatest Shave has a significant meaning to the Yarrawonga College P-12 and local community with the school very rightly so, proud of the efforts in raising $10,000 for this very worthwhile cause.
