Kristopher Castle, 26 at the time of the incident, appeared in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, November 19 for a committal mention.
The charge follows an incident where it will be alleged two people were involved in an altercation on Hargrave Crt in Yarrawonga, before Ms Sanders attempted to intervene.
He is also charged with making a threat to kill, and committing an indictable offence while on bail, on the same day.
Mr Castle was remanded on bail to appear again on February 3 for a committal hearing where five witnesses will be cross-examined.
The hearing is expected to take one and a half days.
Walk against family violence
On Sunday, November 30 the entire community is invited to come together in support of 16 Days of Activism against family violence.
From 9am until 11am join in the Walk Against Family Violence, starting at the rotunda on the Yarrawonga foreshore and walking along the lake to the yacht club.
Walk together to raise awareness and stand against family violence in all its forms.
Local service providers will be on hand with free bacon and egg rolls from Yarrawonga Lions and coffee available from the Brew It coffee van.
