The walk, now in its 17th year and presented by Baby Bunting, raises funds and awareness for the 48,000 babies born premature or sick in Australia each year.
Life’s Little Treasures Foundation is Australia’s largest charity dedicated to supporting families or babies born sick or before 37 weeks gestation.
Over the past 16 years, the event has raised $5.7 million, primarily without government funding.
Life’s Little Treasures Foundation chief executive Felicia Welstead said each year one in seven newborn babies required life-saving care in a neonatal intensive care unit or special care nursery.
“Each year, one in seven newborn babies require life-saving care in a neonatal intensive care unit or special care nursery, and as the cost of living increases, it is growing substantially more difficult for parents to tackle the heavy financial demands of having a baby in a neonatal unit,” Ms Welstead said.
“We’re very excited to celebrate 17 years of this truly supportive community event throughout October.
“We welcome attendees of all backgrounds to join in on the range of entertainment on the day.”
The event opens at 9am, with the walk commencing at 10.30am, and concludes at 1.30pm.
Those unable to attend in person can participate in a virtual walk.
