Jerilderie CWA held its first meeting for the year with a good attendance of members.
Nine members have indicated they will attend the next Murray Group CWA meeting in Holbrook on March 19, 9.30am for 10am.
Handicraft and Land Cookery will be judged, and Jerilderie CWA has entries to be taken.
Due to this event being held on our normal meeting day, the next meeting will be tomorrow, Thursday, March 12 at 1.30pm. There will be no handicraft until next month.
CWA recently donated to Jerilderie Public School, with the money to be used for food etc. for their pupils.
Members will be attending International Women's Day on Monday, March 30 with Rosalie Ham of The Dressmaker fame being the guest.
Morning tea will be provided and the event is fully booked.
At the recent meeting members had cooked a light fruit cake to be judged by Lyn Baker from Deniliquin with the winner being Rosie Stevens.
Guest speakers from Origin, Samantha Murrow and Roxanne McGee, talked about what will be happening in our area over 2026-2027 with the construction of 208 wind turbines.
This was good information and a lot of questions were answered regarding the impact on towns, farms and environment.
