Shepparton’s Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE campus on Fryers St was awash with rainbow flags and smiling faces on Tuesday, May 17, as crowds gathered to celebrate International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersex Discrimination and Transphobia.

While the day is one of celebration, it marks only 32 years since the World Health Organization removed homosexuality from the Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems on May 17, 1990.
IDAHOBIT aims to celebrate LGBTQIA+ people globally and raise awareness for the work still needed to make discrimination a thing of the past.
Sixteen local organisations came together at GOTAFE on the day, including GV Pride, headspace and The Bridge Youth Service, providing attendees of all ages with an array of stalls, activities, food and live music.
