Ottie John Dullard lost his life to sudden infant death syndrome on December 27, 2020, when he was just four months old.
Amy said losing Ottie to SIDS was “horrendous”, and something that did not get any easier to deal with.
“You’re thinking all about the milestones that you miss,” she said.
Ottie would’ve been starting school this year, so in his memory, Amy is raising money for The Smith Family, an organisation that supports children to access education and essential learning resources.
“I thought The Smith Family would be a good organisation because they help disadvantaged children go to school,” she said.
“They might sponsor a child or buy a uniform if the parents can’t afford it, or a new bag or something.
“Because Ottie will never have the chance to go to school, supporting other children’s education feels like a meaningful way to keep his memory alive.”
Amy’s hosting the fundraiser at The Peppermill Inn on Saturday, January 10 from noon to 6pm, which will feature live music, raffles and a silent auction with a variety of prizes.
Items up for bid include vouchers, a Lisa Nardella photography family session, a pressure washer from GV Straight Line Fencing and AFL memorabilia.
“Brisbane Lions have donated a signed football ... Collingwood have donated a signed jumper and ball too,” she said.
“Anything that we can raise is better than nothing.”
