The Harris Scarfe Shepparton store will continue to trade, its receiver has confirmed.
On Monday, it was announced 21 Harris Scarfe stores would close over the next four weeks. The 160-year-old retail company was placed into receivership about one month ago.
However, receiver Deloitte Restructuring Services confirmed to the News yesterday the Maude St store would "remain in the portfolio to be offered for sale", and continue trading.
It was unclear when the portfolio would be sold.
A Deloitte spokesperson said the Shepparton store employed 31 people on a full-time, part-time or casual basis.
Deloitte Restructuring Services partner Vaughan Strawbridge said Harris Scarfe was popular with loyal customers and it had been a difficult decision to close stores.“All efforts are being made to redeploy affected staff around the rest of the store network, and all staff that leave the business will receive all wages and entitlements in full on the closure of individual stores.
“Our review of the store network included a range of factors, including past and likely future profitability.
“Going forward, we certainly remain focused on running the broader store network, and selling the business as the best outcome for remaining employees and suppliers.”
The Shepparton store is one of 21 that will continue to trade across Victoria.
