Greater Shepparton and the towns around have been hit by a severe thunderstorm with heavy rain and hail causing power outages.

Vic Emergency issued a warning at 12.28pm warning that a severe thunderstorm was likely to produce heavy rainfall, possible flash flooding and damaging winds over the next several hours.
It warned the storm may lead to flash flooding in locations including Shepparton, Seymour, Bendigo, Maryborough, Castlemaine and Kyneton.
Powercor stated around 9000 customers were left without power in Mooroopna and Shepparton area due to a significant storm cell which battered the area.
More than 12,500 ground lightning strikes were recorded since 7am on Thursday, causing damage to poles, powerlines and other electrical infrastructure.
Rising: Water ran high through Olympic Avenue and Parkside Drive in Shepparton.

The heavy rain hit Shepparton after 1pm with power going out in Kialla around 1.30pm.
