The 15-year-old was among the 155 riders who competed in the 2026 Summer Sizzler western riding event, which was held at Tatura Park from February 18 to 22.
Dana earned first place in the Youth 7-18 years Trail, an event that required her to ride her horse, Buick, through a series of obstacles.
She picked up two other wins, including against her mother in the Senior Horse Hunter Under Saddle Stakes.
Dana’s father, Kyle Mobberley, who is also the president of GV Quarter Horse & Western Riding Club, said the event “has always been well represented, people come from all over the country”.
“We’re very fortunate that we’ve had ongoing support,” he said.
The event received funding from Greater Shepparton City Council and many individual donors, which Mr Mobberley said helped bring international judges to Tatura.
Dana has been around horses all her life, competing in her first event at the age of eight where she placed first in a showmanship class in Tamworth.
She enjoys “their nature and how you can connect with a horse and become a team”.
In 2025, Dana rode to victory with the youth Australian team in the Trans Tasman Challenge, a bi-annual western riding competition against New Zealand.
She now has her sights set on the Youth World Cup, which is currently considering Australia as its next host.
