The two main football and netball leagues operating in the Southern Riverina district are the Murray Football Netball League and the Picola District Football Netball League.
Clubs in both leagues field multiple football and netball sides, from under-11s right up to the seniors.
It means you can be assured a full day of action as local rivalries heat up for the opening rounds this weekend.
Getting in a full day of sporting action is a breeze, with each sporting venue offering a canteen and bar to keep you fed and refreshed and there is often a coffee van to keep you caffeinated.
Both the Murray and Picola Leagues kick off the 2024 seasons with round one this weekend.
The Picola League offers two blockbuster games - Tocumwal v Berrigan in Tocumwal today and Mathoura v Picola United at Mathoura tomorrow.
Most of the Murray League action will be hosted today, with 10 clubs playing across the league footprint.
The game not to be missed is right here in Deniliquin, with traditional rivals the Deni Rams and Finley Cats playing a twilight game.
For previews of the Deni Rams and Mathoura Timbercutters games, turn to today’s PT Sport.
Full fixtures for both leagues for the rest of the season are available on their respective Facebook pages.
Also on offer in Deniliquin this weekend for sport lovers is the Western Riverina Tennis Championships at the Charlotte St courts, and an Easter tournament at the Deniliquin RSL Bowls Club greens in Duncan St.
And the Deniliquin Golf Club course is open for anyone who would like a hit (turn to sport for more details).
