Fix set for dangerous Marungi intersection

Cr Shane Sali said the modelling indicated a staggered intersection would reduce crashes by 40 per cent.

“Over the past five years there has been one fatality crash, one serious crash and one injury crash at the intersection,” he said.

The works will improve safety at the intersection by encouraging traffic to slow down on both the Labuan Rd northern and southern approaches.

“This is a dangerous intersection, and it is great to see us getting on to it and fixing it up,” Cr Geoff Dobson said.

The budget for the project is $860,000, fully funded under the Federal Black Spot Program.
