A fast-moving grassfire is burning near Whitehead Street, northwest of Corowa.
The fire is approximately 2,000 hectares and is impacting homes and properties on the NSW–Victoria border. It is burning east toward Honour Avenue and the Riverina Highway under strong westerly winds.
Embers may travel long distances, causing new spot fires ahead of the main front.
Firefighters and waterbombing aircraft are working to slow the spread. If you are in Hopefield, monitor conditions closely.
A large Hercules plane is working to slow the spread of the flames with assistance from firefighters on the ground.
If you are north of Redlands Road and west of Honour Avenue, your life is at risk. It is too late to leave.

The Riverina Highway between Honour Avenue and Federation Way is currently closed with the incident causing power outages across the area.
A total Fire Ban has been in place across the region in the past two days, with strong winds and gusts up to 69kmh have been recorded.

Do not leave now — it is too late to evacuate.
Seek shelter immediately in a solid structure (e.g., a house).
Stay indoors and continue to monitor the situation.
A nearby well-cleared area may offer temporary safety.

If you are threatened by fire
Shelter in a solid building, preferably a room on the opposite side of the house from the approaching fire, with water access and a clear exit.

Close all doors and windows; turn off air conditioners.
Keep water running if possible.
Turn on sprinklers if available.
Watch for small fires and burning embers inside and outside.
After the fire front passes, be cautious—trees may be unstable and fall.

Another fire has started near Geo Way at Corowa. Firefighters are on scene and controlling the fire.
There is currently no immediate threat to the community.
A separate fire near Rutherglen began along Federation Way near the Murray Valley Highway and moved east. Firefighters responded quickly and are monitoring containment.
Smoke may still be visible from nearby towns and roads. Emergency crews remain on scene for precautionary work.
