V/Line travellers are being encouraged to familiarise themselves with extreme heat timetables.
Extreme heat timetables will be in place on the V/Line network over coming days due to the forecast hot temperatures across Victoria.

On Wednesday, December 17, partial extreme heat timetables will be in place for the Bendigo, Echuca, Seymour, Shepparton and Swan Hill lines.
On Thursday, December 18, extreme heat timetables will be in place for all lines on the V/Line network, other than the Albury line (decisions come from Australian Rail Track Corporation).
Passengers are advised to plan ahead and check the V/Line website before travelling for the extreme heat timetables and any changes to their services, and please allow extra travel time.
Extreme heat speed restrictions are enforced when temperatures exceed 36°C to reduce the likelihood of train and track faults, while also keeping passengers safe.
When an extreme heat timetable is in place, journey times will be extended as V/Line reduces the speed of trains.
There will be drinking water on board trains and passengers are also encouraged to travel with bottled water and wear cool clothing.
