A man has been banned from driving for two years and fined $2000 after he was caught drug driving and speeding for a second time.
Martin Buttenshaw represented himself at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
In January the accused was detected travelling at 134km/h in a 100km/h zone along Lancaster-Mooroopna Rd, the court heard.
When pulled over by police, it was discovered Buttenshaw had already been issued a five-year licence disqualification by the Shepparton Magistrates’ Court for a speeding and drug driving incident in February, 2016.
During the 2016 incident, the accused was intercepted by police on Corio St, travelling 65km/h in a 50km/h zone.
He held no Victorian driver’s licence at the time and his New South Wales licence had been suspended in 2015.
Results of oral fluid tests showed Buttenshaw had methylamphetamine in his system on both occasions.
Magistrate John Murphy told the accused to stay out of trouble as he handed down the sentence.
Mr Murphy ordered that the fine be donated to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
