Mooroopna held on to clinch a nail-biting two-run victory against Tatura in the round two E-grade contest, as the match went down to the final over.
Needing 146 to win, Tatura finished its innings a painstakingly two runs short of the total.
Kurt Benjamin (33 not out) did everything he could to help get his side over the line, but the superb bowling efforts from Mooroopna's Beau Metcalf (3-11) denied the home side its second win of the season.
Mooroopna's Tasman Hall (68) and Shane Macansh (52) did the damage with the bat.
● Shepparton United cruised to a eight-wicket victory against Pine Lodge, easily chasing down the away side's total.
Justin Purdey whacked 46 not out for Pine Lodge as his side was able to reach 6-142 from 40 overs.
But United was all class in its reply with the bat, with Sankalp Kakodkar scoring a blistering 76 not out to lead the home side to 2-145.
● Katandra took care of Murchison with ease thanks to a sublime 60-run knock from Matthew Koutroubas.
After winning the toss and batting first, Katandra piled on 9-181 from its 40 overs, with Koutroubas, Rob Trewin (33) and Lachie Ash (23) batting well.
But it was their teammate Billy Holmes’ 5-30 that stole the limelight, as he dismantled Murchison for 131.
● Old Students clinched a 36-run win against Dhurringile at Kialla Recreation Reserve.
The Students’ Dean Toy blasted his way to 83 out of 228 batting first, while Nathan Mann picked up 2-20 to help restrict Dhurringile to 9-192 from 40 overs.
