The project, funded by the Seven Creeks developers, will include a junior football oval, an all-abilities playground, public toilets and a picnic shelter.
Construction is expected to begin soon and will align with Stage 21 of the Seven Creeks development, which is set to title in early 2026.
Real estate agent Rocky Gagliardi said the reserve was a required component of the subdivision’s planning conditions, ensuring a portion of public open space was delivered to the community.
“Development Edge, the project management group that manages the estate, wanted to go above and beyond the normal parkland construction,” Mr Gagliardi said.
While there was no formal public consultation process, Mr Gagliardi said the community had responded enthusiastically to the plans.
Once construction is complete, the site will be handed over to Greater Shepparton City Council, which will assume ownership and ongoing maintenance responsibilities.
Council’s Director of Infrastructure Gary Randhawa said the reserve would be developed as a neighbourhood recreational facility for community use rather than as a formal sporting venue.
“This recreational community oval and surrounds will be built for the community to enjoy, and council is not looking to base any clubs at this site,” Mr Randhawa said.
“Due to the size and proximity to the aerodrome, the oval will only have junior-sized goals installed.
“This space hasn’t been developed as a sporting facility, which is why there are no change rooms.”
Council’s Parks, Sport and Recreation team will maintain the site fortnightly.
The project is expected to be completed by 2026-27, delivering a new community hub for residents in the growing Seven Creeks area.
