Aadon James Latham, 20, pleaded guilty in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court to a charge of being the driver of a vehicle and causing it to lose traction.
Prosecutor Leading Senior Constable Anna Hanlon told the court Latham had accelerated heavily, causing smoke and for his wheels to lose traction, in Kialla Lakes Dve in Kialla on March 14.
Police were just behind him at the time, and intercepted him in the car wash on Kialla Lakes Dve, impounding his car for 30 days.
When police asked him if he knew why they pulled him over, he told them “I did a cheeky little skid” because “it was just a s*** day”.
Magistrate Simon Zebrowski fined Latham $500, but did not record a conviction.
“Young fellas get a licence and they all think they’re (Formula One driver) Oscar Piastri,” Mr Zebrowski said.
“But you don’t know anything. You know one pedal is stop and one pedal is go.
“You do a cheeky little burnout because you’ve had a bad day.
“If you don’t see an oil patch on the road or a wet patch, you hit a lamp post... or worse, a person walking.”
