Emergency services battled a hay bale fire at Echuca Village on Thursday, December 18.
Nine CFA vehicles were deployed to battle the blaze involving hay bales loaded on a truck.
A CFA spokesperson told the Riv that units were first alerted to a fire at about 9.37am at the intersection of Glanville and Simmie Rds.
“Crews arrived to find a truck and a trailer, carrying hay, fully involved in fire,” they said.
About two hours after the fire started, the incident was declared under control. Crews remained on scene to monitor the aftermath.
Despite the fire being classified as small on the VicEmergency app, authorities issued a community notice about the fire.
It said the hay fire was “not likely to spread” to surrounding grassland, but would generate a lot of smoke.
The notice warned nearby residents that smoke would be visible from surrounding roads and communities.
There was no immediate threat to surrounding residents.
