The free event will highlight the powerful role women play in leading, supporting and rebuilding during times of crisis.
“International Women’s Day is an opportunity to recognise the extraordinary contributions women make every single day — often quietly, often courageously, and often while carrying the weight of community recovery on their shoulders,” Strathbogie Shire Mayor Scott Jeffery said.
“I’m proud we can bring our community together at Fowles Wine, a local business that itself embodies strength and perseverance.
“I encourage residents to join us for a meaningful afternoon of connection, learning and celebration.”
This year’s event will be held at Fowles Wine in Avenel, which was impacted by the recent fires.
Attendees can expect a delicious afternoon tea, featuring live music by Gayle Mawson.
They will also hear from guest speakers Michelle Roberts and Fyowna Norton, who each bring national expertise in disaster recovery, community wellbeing and humanitarian leadership.
Michelle Roberts is a Churchill Fellow and co-founder of the National Infant and Child Disaster Mental Health Advisory Committee, while Fyowna Norton is the Victorian state manager at the Australian Red Cross with 27 years of humanitarian, public and private sector experience.
The pair will lead a discussion about resilience, community strength and the crucial leadership women provide during recovery and rebuilding.
