Open to all ages, the competition invites locals and visitors to register for a chance to snag prizes across a range of categories, including Tagged Fish, Biggest Catch, Young Angler, Mystery Weight and Lucky Spot.
Beyond the water’s edge, attendees can enjoy a lively evening featuring food trucks, family activities, trade stalls, live entertainment, giveaways and more.
Mayor Shane Sali encouraged the community to save the date.
“Hooked on Shepparton is a fantastic opportunity for the community to enjoy a fun day taking part in one of Australia’s favourite activities, at the beautiful Victoria Park Lake,” he said.
Yanha Gurtji Ward Cr Fern Summer emphasised the wider benefits of the event.
“Events like Hooked on Shepparton are great for the community, encouraging people to participate in outdoor activities and utilise wonderful open spaces such as the lake, which is key for a healthy population,” she said.
“We encourage everyone to attend, bring the family and friends, and celebrate together.”
The event is free, alcohol-free, and open to everyone.
Participants are reminded to bring their own rods, bait, chairs, hat, sunscreen and mosquito spray.
A recreational fishing licence is required, with exemptions for those under 18, over 70, or eligible cardholders.
