Labor has endorsed Cayla Fin from Dookie, who currently works at the Northern Victoria Institute of TAFE in a senior leadership role.
She is originally from Gruyere in the Yarra Valley and moved to the Goulburn Valley for work and a desire to live in a community she could contribute to.
Ms Fin now lives in Dookie with her wife, Heidi.
She volunteered for the Portarlington CFA branch from 2019 to 2024 and served in operational and non-operational roles, including while undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
“Only a Labor government will continue delivering for regional Victoria, with real investments like the Goulburn Valley Health redevelopment, the Shepparton Line upgrade, the Early Parenting Centre and free TAFE, and I want to be a strong local voice to make sure our region keeps getting the support it deserves,” Ms Fin said.

The Greens have endorsed Grace Verney, a mental health peer worker who is originally from a small farming community in rural NSW.
Ms Verney studied psychology and sociology at university and intends to begin a master of social work in 2027.
She moved to Shepparton in 2024 to be closer to family and lives with her fiancé and their cats.
If elected, Ms Verney hopes to address cost-of-living pressures, strengthen access to healthcare and improve public transport.
“I want to help build a future where people in regional Victoria have the same opportunities, services and support as those living in metropolitan areas, and where everyone has the chance to thrive,” Ms Verney said.
When asked whether he intended to run in the state election, City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali said “my focus is on being the mayor”.
Councillor Steven Threlfall has been approached to run but said he was undecided.
Additional candidates may announce their intentions to run for office in the coming months.
