If so, Tomorrow Today’s 2026 community grants are now open, and could help you get it off the ground.
Local groups and organisations with projects that support the Benalla community are invited to apply for up to $5000.
Each year, Tomorrow Today’s community grants have provided generous funding for community and education projects.
Since 2003, when the grants program commenced, Tomorrow Today has distributed more than $500,000 for around 185 local projects.
Applications for the 2026 round of funding will be open until Monday, March 23.
Board chair Louise Pearce said Tomorrow Today was formed more than 20 years ago specifically to help Benalla build resilience and become more self-sufficient.
“One of the ways we do that is to fund organisations within Benalla and district to carry out projects that build community capacity and improve the wellbeing of residents or enhance the educational outcomes for our children and young people,” she said.
The grants are made possible through donations to Tomorrow Today’s Community Fund.
“I’d like to thank all our donors, we are so grateful for their generosity,” Ms Pearce said.
“The money donated to the fund is invested so that we can use the income generated from it to make these annual grants year after year.”
In 2025, 13 community groups shared in over $52,000 in funding for a diverse range of projects.
One of the projects funded was for Munro Ave Preschool to purchase new outdoor equipment.
Eleanor Sadler from Munroe Ave preschool said the grant was put to good use.
“The new equipment has significantly enhanced the outdoor environment at Munro Ave Preschool, expanding the ways in which children can explore, move and build their gross motor skills through active play,” she said.
“These learning resources would not have been possible without the support of the Tomorrow Today Community Grants program — our kindergarten community is sincerely grateful for this support.”
Other successful projects from previous grants round include important training in suicide prevention for volunteers, mental health resources for Benalla P-12 College, the rejuvenation of the CWA hall garden by Benalla Scouts, a social event for Benalla’s young people and a social enterprise by EdSpace to encourage the community to reduce, reuse and recycle.
The application process is simple, and local groups and organisations are encouraged to apply.
