Students at All Saints Anglican School will soon have somewhere to shelter outdoors from harsh weather conditions, with construction set to begin on a new covered outdoor learning area over the school’s two synthetic courts.

The 1800-square-metre structure, that will stand approximately nine metres tall at its highest point, will transform the existing courts into an all-weather space the school can use year-round.
“At the moment if it’s too hot, you can’t go out there, if it’s too wet, you can’t go out there,” Principal Jim Laussen said.
“So, it’ll be lovely to have that sort of space.”
The covered area will double as a much-needed space for the growing school community.
With enrolments quickly climbing, the school has lacked an undercover area suitable to bring all students together in one place.
The new structure is expected to be able to accommodate up to 720 students at once.
“This new area will give the school fantastic flexibility in that regard,” Mr Laussen said.
Fitted with power and lighting, the space will also transform into a multi-purpose area as it doubles as a venue for school assemblies and gives students somewhere to escape the sun and rain during lunch breaks.
The outdoor area forms part of the Stage 2B build, an extension of the STEAM building which the school received $1.5 million in government funding for.
The funding will also go towards future upgrades, including a new roadway, football oval and eventually a gymnasium.
“There’s big plans,” Mr Laussen said.
Construction of the covered outdoor learning area is expected to begin during September in the Term 3 holidays and be completed by the end of October.
