AFL Victoria's RAC downfall

Eleven years later, the demise of the RACs is sadly predictable and has left local footy in an utter mess.

The management of the GVL under Keith Wellman had been doing a fine job, but were callously tossed aside for a shiny new toy.

I'll remember the brave dissidents — such as former GVL chair Trevor Pollard — who stood up for what they knew was right, even when they knew there would be blowback.

Fingers crossed the end of RACs can lead to the GVL reclaiming its rightful place as the strongest competition in country football.
