It’s why he’s so pleased to see council’s Activities In The Park program mark 15 years.
He said this longevity demonstrated how successful the program had been.
“Almost 120,000 attendees since 2012 shows how strongly our community has embraced Activities in the Park,” he said.
“By bringing free/low-cost activities to parks and public spaces, the program gives people of all ages a simple way to stay active, healthy and connected.”
Since its inception, the program has delivered more than 2465 activities.
While it began with just 10 activities in 2012, last year 261 activities were on offer. These were attended by 12,029 people.
Council director of healthy communities and liveability Breanna Bass said given current cost-of-living pressures, it was important that activities were accessible to all.
She said the program has been specifically designed to cater for locals of all ages.
To mark the milestone, residents and visitors are invited to enjoy free family=friendly activities at KidsTown Adventure Playground in Mooroopna on Saturday, September 5 from 10am to 1pm.
This includes ‘gymnastics adventure’ from 10am to noon and an opportunity to meet farm animals from 10am to 1pm.
The event forms part of the spring 2026 program, which is now available and will run from September to November.
