That’s what the community can expect this weekend at the Goulburn Valley University of the Third Age annual exhibition.
On Saturday, October 18, and Sunday, October 19, GV U3A will host its Art, Craft and Photography Exhibition, luring locals and tourists alike to the U3A Hall on Esson St in Shepparton.
The exhibition will showcase about 230 works by members — some of whom are experienced exhibitors, while for others, it will be their first time.
“Drawing is also being exhibited for the first time,” GV U3A assistant treasurer Gael Thompson said.
“We have a new group called ‘Scribblers’, who focus on pencil work and have been guided through that process.
“At first, some of these members felt they weren’t artistic, but if I were half as artistic as they are, I’d feel very happy with myself.”
Many artworks will be available for purchase, and visitors can also enter a raffle for $2 a ticket, with seven prizes donated by members, including a painting by Ross Dainton, a crocheted rug, a photographic portrait sitting, a bottle of wine and more.
For GV U3A members, their prize is in championing their organisation.
“(The importance of this exhibition) is twofold,” Ms Thompson said.
“One, to give the members an opportunity to display their work, and two, it’s an opportunity for people to come and learn what U3A offers — there are all sorts of things, as well as the artistic side.
“I really encourage people to come and look at what the senior members of their community are doing.”
The GV U3A Art, Craft and Photography Exhibition is on Saturday, October 18, and Sunday, October 19, from 10am to 4pm at U3A Hall, 14 Esson St, Shepparton.
Entry is $5 and includes Devonshire tea.
The official opening will take place on Saturday at 11am.
