Many suppliers don’t favour small businesses because of the credit checks and paperwork necessary to onboard them.
Danielle Law, who runs an online candle store in Shepparton, heard about the platform from her sister-in-law and hopes that having access to wholesale prices is a big help for her business.
“I just opened, so it should hopefully help me get a store,” she said.
“We hope we can get the community up and running again and support local businesses.”
TradeSquare offers about 150,000 products and 7000 brands to businesses registered to operate in Australia.
The founders are Australian entrepreneurs and bring big names in e-commerce to the table, such as Catch.com
“We think it matters that we’re Australian,” chief marketing officer Roey Balbus said.
“Australia presents a number of unique challenges to regional businesses, distance being just one of them.
“We set up TradeSquare by talking to Australian buyers, from retailers to schools and a vast range between. Invariably the responses were about more product choice and orders delivered on time, which they hadn’t always experienced from overseas trading platforms.”
