Royal Freemasons locked down after staff member confirms visit to Tier 1 COVID-19 exposure site

On Wednesday, June 2, a Royal Freemasons Benalla staff member notified management that they had attended a Tier 1 public exposure site, BP Euroa.

A Royal Freemasons spokesperson said one staff member was a primary close contact, and another was a secondary close contact of a member of the community who also attended the exposure site.

“We have immediately locked down the home as a precaution, notified the Department of Health, commenced full PPE and commenced testing all our residents and staff,” the spokesperson said.

“No staff or residents at Royal Freemasons have tested positive to COVID-19. COVID vaccinations have been provided at all Royal Freemasons homes and the majority of Benalla residents have been vaccinated.

“For the safety of residents, staff and families we have initiated full COVID-19 precautionary outbreak procedures at the home while we await the return of precautionary testing results.

“This means that all residents will be self-isolating in their rooms and staff are now wearing full personal protective equipment.

“Royal Freemasons has sufficient personal protective equipment and all other supplies necessary to continue to provide support and services to the residents and staff.

“Please be assured that, at this time, we have no staff or residents who have tested positive to COVID-19 and/or have any signs or symptoms.”

Royal Freemasons Benalla is closely monitoring all residents and staff for signs and symptoms.

“As you can imagine this is a stressful time for all our staff, residents and their families and as such we have put in place communication and support services to ensure all are supported during this time,” the spokesperson said.
