Led by former City of Greater Shepparton mayor Kim O'Keeffe, about $25 000 was raised at a function at Kialla's Peppermill Inn earlier this month with band Chocolate Starfish's lead vocalist Adam Thompson the headline act.
Cr O'Keeffe said extra donations were made after the event.
“It was incredible to think it was a three-day project from start to finish,” she said.
“We had close to 300 people attend the Peppermill.
“It showed the community spirit, the helplessness we all felt in regard to helping people that have been affected by bushfires.
“I think our community steps up; I've seen it many times.”
Cr O'Keeffe said the money would be donated to Gippsland-based appeals.
“It's important we connect with our fellow neighbours,” she said.
“It's hard to know what the money will be spent on but we hope it will improve the lives of the people who have been impacted by the fires.”
