Strathbogie Shire's new CEO starts

A former Greater Shepparton City Council acting chief executive has taken up the top job for Strathbogie Shire Council.

Julie Salomon replaced Phil Pearce in 2011 for about six months before Gavin Cator became Greater Shepparton's chief executive in 2012.

Since leaving Shepparton, she's worked at the City of Monash. She started her new position last week.

Ms Salomon replaces Strathbogie's acting chief executive Phil Howard, who stepped into the role for six months after Steve Crawcour resigned from the position after he oversaw policy breaches identified in a report from the Victorian Auditor-General Office.

“The VAGO report gave us a focus of our governance program,” Ms Salomon said.

“It's a priority of mine to ensure our council is of good sound and structure, and accountability.

“There is a lot of issues that was listed in the VAGO report but it's a timely reminder of what we need to do.”

Ms Salomon said it was exciting to be back in the Goulburn Valley.

She said her office door was always open to Strathbogie Shire residents.

“Our focus is on accountability, customer responsiveness and strong connections with our community.”
