Members from Sheppartons Country Fire Brigade District 22 have been sent across the severely impacted bushfire zones to help relieve fatigued crews.
Several members have joined a strike force to work on the frontline of the fires near Corryong.
The crews have been fighting blazes on rotating day and night shifts since Monday, December 30, and are expected to return home on Sunday.
Other local crews are working in support roles in the fire zones which includes rescuing residents, managing wildlilfe and livestock, advising and warning people with public information and bringing life-saving supplies to the helpless.
Shepparton CFA duty officer Peter Dedman urged locals to be cautious ahead of today's total fire ban and reminded people to comply with legislation.
“If everyone does the right thing we can have top focus on the important things,” Mr Dedman said.
“We don't want to have to retract from the bushfire mission for incidents that could have been clearly prevented,” he said.
Mr Dedman said his crews in the district were well equipped and were prepared to adequately protect the local area.
