Booze bus in town for Melbourne Cup long weekend

By Liz Mellino

Victoria Police deployed a booze bus to Shepparton last week for the Melbourne Cup long weekend.

As part as Operation Furlong, the booze bus did enforcement activities across Shepparton and Mooroopna from November 1 to 4.

Across the four days the booze bus caught four drink drivers, 20 drug drivers, five unlicensed drivers and five unregistered drivers.

These results were in addition to any enforcement activity general duty and Highway Patrol police conducted in town.

The bus was originally stationed in Shepparton for a day and a half before being deployed to Mooroopna where it stayed for the rest of the weekend.
