The coveted trophy will visit Lindsay Park Stables where school children and locals will gather for morning tea and be treated to a Q&A session with Melbourne Cup-winning trainer David Hayes and cup tour ambassador and Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Wayne Harris.
This year marks 25 years since Hayes won the 1994 Melbourne Cup with imported galloper Jeune, with Harris riding the British thoroughbred to victory.
Lindsay Park Racing spokesperson Jenny McAlpine said the whole team was looking forward to welcoming the cup and Harris.
“What a special delight for us all it will be to bring Wayne Harris, Jeune’s Cup-winning jockey to Lindsay Park to reunite with David and reflect on that memorable moment and day,” Ms McAlpine said.
Euroa is also one of this year’s Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour National Sweep destinations, which sees 24 rural and regional destinations across Australia allocated a barrier for the 2019 Lexus Melbourne Cup.
Barriers will be drawn at random as part of the cup’s visit and the town which draws the barrier of the cup-winning horse will be presented with a cash prize of $50,000 to put towards a charity for a local community initiative.
Since its inaugural year in 2003, the Melbourne Cup Tour has travelled more than 600,000kms and visited more than 450 regional, rural and metropolitan destinations.
Events at Euroa begin from 10am tomorrow with formalities kicking off at 10.30am.
The Lexus Melbourne Cup will also visit Cobram on October 26, before Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday, November 5.
