It is illegal to possess, advertise, import or sell childlike sex dolls in Australia, with possession carrying a sentence of up to 15 years in jail.
Between 2025 and 2026, Australian Border Force officers seized 46 childlike sex dolls, and 48 were seized from 2024 to 2025.
Dolls may desensitise users from the physical, emotional and psychological harm inflicted on real children, Australian Federal Police Commander Jo Cameron told AAP.
"Childlike sex dolls are not harmless objects - they are illegal to possess," she said.
"They can contribute to the exploitation of victims in reality."
In February, Jason William Forbes was jailed in Western Australia for more than seven years after officers raided his home over the importation of a childlike doll.
His elaborate plans to kidnap a girl were discovered by officers, including a list of kindergartens, blacked out car windows, a hidden soundproof room and a "mind map" of his preparations, the court was told.
"He was so close to actually kidnapping a child, and it was only flagged with police when they intercepted a second child sexual abuse doll that he tried to import," Collective Shout campaign manager Caitlin Roper said.
"What these dolls do is they normalise and legitimise children as appropriate objects of adult male sexual desire. They normalise child sexual abuse."

The not-for-profit group has found more than 100 childlike sex dolls listed on Amazon in 2026.
Many of them were being advertised to Australians via the platform's US domain, although they did not offer shipping to Australia, Ms Roper said.
She claimed third-party sellers were getting around Amazon's guidelines and policies by selling childlike dolls as adult dolls, or action figures.
"Some of them engage in very deceptive practices," Ms Roper said.
"They'll advertise these dolls not as sex dolls but as life-size action figures.Â
"Another way is they'll advertise sex dolls that are obviously childlike little dolls with pigtails, when it's flagged they'll crop out the childlike face."
Collective Shout has launched an online petition calling on Amazon to stop the sale of these dolls, gathering more than 5000 signatures.
Ms Roper said Amazon had removed at least 13 listings since the petition went live, some of which had been active for eight months.
But she said when listings disappeared they were often replaced with new ones, as she called for Amazon to ban known sellers from the platform, and for more effective mechanisms to prevent future listings.
"Policies are meaningless if they're not enforced," she said.
An Amazon spokesman said it was investing in tools and teams to continuously monitor its store and third-party seller accounts were removed if they did not abide by its policies and guidelines.
