This NAIDOC Week, Primary Care Connect recognises and pays its respects to honour the rich histories, vibrant cultures and achievements of all First Nations people.
The theme for 2025, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision, and Legacy,” celebrates not only the achievements of the past, but the bright future ahead, powered by the strength of young leaders, the vision of communities and the enduring legacy of First Nations ancestors.
Shara Scott, media and communications co-ordinator and member of the Reconciliation Action Plan working group for Primary Care Connect, said the theme this year called to celebrate the past and future.
“We thought what better way to show the history of NAIDOC and the achievements of First Nations cultures than to showcase the history of NAIDOC posters from 1972 all the way through until today,” she said.
“The history of NAIDOC displayed visually through the powerful artwork of NAIDOC over the decades is fascinating, and we hope to encourage our clients, staff and the wider community to come and walk through our main hallway throughout NAIDOC Week to view the gallery of NAIDOC.”
Leigh Stanbrook, executive sponsor of the RAP Working Group for Primary Care Connect, said they were proud to be on a reconciliation journey and their whole team had learned so much through the process.
“We want to share some of those learnings through the history of NAIDOC this year, and what NAIDOC has visually represented throughout the decades in terms of the achievements of First Nations people,” he said.
“We are also so thrilled to announce that our inaugural Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan has scored a conditional thumbs-up from Reconciliation Australia.
“Being part of a community with the highest First Nations population outside of metropolitan Melbourne, it’s crucial for agencies like Primary Care Connect to champion reconciliation, paving the way for a fairer and more equitable community for all.”
