When the inevitable scorching hot weather arrives, people outside Shepparton will need a place to cool off.
The outdoor pool season for Tatura, Mooroopna and Merrigum starts on Saturday, November 23 at 1pm.
This year is exciting for Merrigum residents, with the opening of a new splash park at the Merrigum outdoor pool.
Greater Shepparton City Council manager active living David Booth said the pools were looking great ahead of the season.
“There will be lots happening over summer, from giant inflatables and water games for the kids, through to aqua aerobics and early morning swimming,” he said.
“Don’t forget to get your seasonal pool membership passes, which can be used at all three pools.”
For a full list of programs and activities, residents can visit their local pool or download the Get Mooving Greater Shepparton mobile phone app.
The Merrigum splash park grand opening is on Friday, November 22 at 1.30pm.
Pools will remain open until the second weekend in March, with the final day of the season on Monday, March 9.
Council advises residents to contact their local pool for opening times; these could change, depending on weather conditions.
Extended operating hours will come into play from December 23.
On days where the weather is above 40°C, council will endeavour to keep the pools open longer; however, pools will close on days cooler than 25°C.
