The Murray Bombers have already locked in a top-two position, as has Seymour, however the two sides are locked on 16 wins apiece and the mantle of minor premier is still up for grabs.
The Cats currently sit fourth, level on 11 wins with Euroa in fifth and just a game ahead of Mansfield in sixth, yet with all three teams within 6 per cent of each other, there is still plenty of change ahead.
With both teams no doubt eyeing finals, what do the numbers say ahead of the clash?
As expected, Echuca dominates Mooroopna in all aspects, with the reigning premier leading the league in a number of statistics.
Echuca’s average of 137 contested possessions per game is the best in the competition, while Mooroopna collects just 116 per game to be ranked ninth.
The Murray Bombers also lead the way in disposals, inside 50s, and intercept possessions, while Mooroopna ranks ninth, sixth and eighth in each of those categories respectively.
One key area in which Mooroopna outperforms Echuca is clearances.
The Cats are ranked number one in the GVL, averaging just under 39 a game, while Echuca is ranked second, winning the ball 38 times per game from stoppage.
The interesting part is that they win them differently — Echuca’s 11 centre clearances per game is the most league-wide, whereas Mooroopna is ranked 10th, but the Cats win a league-high 18 clearances at ball-ups around the ground, compared to the Murray Bombers ranking of fifth.
