Rochester Secondary School students were the first to take part in Shepparton Art Museum's ambitious new series of workshops on Friday.
In the first eduLAB, more than 60 students worked with Venezuelan-born artist Nadia Hernandez to find their own voice and tell their stories of place using card, colour, and drawing to create banners and cut-outs.
SAM's Alana Lee said Rochester was the first of about 15 schools to take part in the project which will see a growing exhibition to be displayed over the next five weeks.
Ms Lee said SAM visitors could also contribute individually to the exhibition by creating their own banners or cut-outs.
SAM's eduLAB exhibition continues until Sunday, May 3.
