Mr and Mrs Peter Freestone of McGregor St, Numurkah, celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary with relatives and friends at a luncheon held at the Victoria Hotel in Shepparton on Saturday.
Mr Freestone, who is 88 years old, and his wife Ethel (84) were married at Wesley Church, Lonsdale St, Melbourne, by the Rev. J. W. Crean on August 9, 1913.
They have one son, Mr Allen Freestone of Katunga, and a daughter, Mrs Ettie Gribben of Barooga, NSW.
They have four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The Freestones received congratulatory telegrams from Her Majesty, The Queen; The Governor General; The Governor; Shire President Numurkah; Deputy Prime Minister, Premier of Victoria and members of Parliament.
