Melbourne Chamber Orchestra to return to Riverlinks

The Melbourne Chamber Orchestra is returning to Riverlinks to perform Homeland as part of the Shepparton Festival.

Principal players will come together for this program of string quartet masterpieces, including String Quartet Op 76 No 4 ‘Sunrise’ by Joseph Haydn and Antonio Dvorák’s String Quartet in F Major ‘American’, alongside the world premiere performances of Aaron Wyatt.

Sunrise, a nickname to the piece that wasn’t given by Mr Haydn, is said to be the perfect description, with the piece likened to the first rays of light on a spring day, while American delves into Mr Dvorák’s roots with his Czech homeland and his journeys through America, in one of the most loved string quartets of all time.

Accompanying these pieces, Mr Wyatt, a Noongar violist and composer, will be performing his first string quartet.

“This evening promises an unforgettable experience of classical excellence, captivating both music enthusiasts and newcomers alike,” Riverlinks manager Matthew Schroeders said.

“We look forward to a night of musical brilliance that will inspire and delight our community.

“Riverlinks is excited to continue to foster First Nations composers and creators, with Aaron’s music one not to miss.”

The performance will take place on Sunday, April 6 at 7.30pm at Riverlinks Westside in Mooroopna.
