By John Lewis

Fame The Musical hits the stage this week, with opening night on Friday followed by three more performances on Saturday and Sunday.

Show director Helen Janke said the 35-strong cast of teenagers aged between 14 and 19 from Initial Stages youth theatre group were eager to perform after rehearsing for months.

Lead roles include Maicy Hocking as Carmen Diaz, Tom Nethersole as Nick Piazza, Emma Pummeroy as Serena Katz and Robert Baxter as Tyrone Jackson. Mr Baxter also choreographed the show.

A live band will deliver all the show's big numbers, including Bring on Tomorrow, These Are My Children and the title song, Fame — Remember My Name.

Performances are at Riverlinks WestSide on Friday at 7.30pm, Saturday at 2pm and 7.30pm, and Sunday at 2pm.

Tickets are available from Riverlinks on 5832 9511 or from the Riverlinks website.
