Bombers get revenge on Swans

ECHUCA has officially locked itself into a finals spot on the Goulburn Valley League netball ladder.

Against a Shepparton Swans side who convincingly beat the Bombers when the sides met in round six, Echuca bounced back on Saturday to claim an 11-goal victory.

Bombers coach Gina Pearson said her side were excited to have locked in their finals position.

"It was a really good result for us," she said.

"They're a side who are not easy to play against. They're tough and physical, that's the style they play and it works really well for them. It takes more than just skill to beat them, you have to be mentally strong if you are going to get the win, and our side was on the day."

As has been the pattern of Pearson coached sides, Echuca continues to find ways to improve week on week as they look to hit their peak at this time of the season.

"We had a focus on our defence," Pearson said.

"We were better in that area across the court, it's something which makes a huge difference for our side. We were great in our shooting, our goalers put on really good performances.

"We were also able to make a few swaps on court as we started to pull away in the second half. We pride ourselves on being able to use multiple players in different positions so we can make changes on the run when we need to, and our side continues to show they are able to adjust to playing somewhere else on the court."

Echuca's final opponent of the year is Shepparton United, the top side in the competition, in the final game of the contest.

Now, according to Pearson, her side have a free swing at the Demons.

"We've beaten them already this season," she said.

"As we can't fall out of third, we have the opportunity to try a few new things, do things we wouldn't have done if we were still trying to lock down third spot.

"Now we have the opportunity to try some things we may be able to use come finals. It's a really good position for us to be in as a club."
