The latest Victorian lockdown has once again thrown operators in the NSW side of the border into chaos, as they look to respond to another batch of changes.
The Victorian Government last week announced a seven-day lockdown starting Friday to stop the spread of a COVID-19 outbreak.
Michelle Perry of Moama Waters caravan park said Thursday was again a confusing day for her business.
“With the announcement of lockdown, we had a lot of bookings made for the park,” she said.
“But later in the afternoon came the order from NSW health that anyone who wasn't across the border by 4pm would have to go into isolation.
“That led to a lot of our bookings from that morning being cancelled by people who weren't going to make it in time.”
Mrs Perry said it was just another moment in a frustrating year.
“It really is quite hard on you as an operator,” she said.
“We've had so many things happen in the past year, and you keep hoping for things to get better only for another issue to arise.
“The big thing for us is Queen's Birthday weekend coming up. We were really excited for it as it would be really helpful to a lot of operators who are still trying to recover.
“Now we don't know if we are going to have it or not.”
Murray River Resorts owner Steve Shipp said he hoped people would retain their bookings.
“We've had one cancellation,” he said.
“But we told our people to sit tight, saying we will help them out if they needed to cancel at the last minute.
“Thankfully the remainder of our bookings are holding on as they want to come up if they can, and we've picked up two more since then.
“And we need that. We are all still trying to recover from the last year, so hopefully all businesses in town still get the opportunity over the long weekend.”
